MEET THE TEAM
Emmett Lawrence
Owner + Arborist

Emmett founded STC September of 2018. His relationship with trees goes back to early childhood, where he spent countless hours in the woodlands of the Pacific Northwest. This inspired him to earn a B.S. in Forestry from the University of Washington. In school, he took a variety of courses that contributed to his tree care philosophy, including soil science, plant biology, plant identification, ornithology, and forest ecology.
Emmett’s professional experience has also shaped how he views tree care. During and after university, he worked for a collection of different environmental conservation entities, including the Lopez Island Conservation corps, a technician for the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group, and a summer building trails in Mount Rainier National Park. These experiences instilled a passion for conscientious, eco-centric land stewardship.
Emmett moved to California in 2017 to apprentice for Traverso Tree Service and pursue a career as an arborist. This apprenticeship included extensive one-on-one training on the ins-and-outs of tree care from ISA Master Arborist John Traverso. During this time he became an ISA certified Tree Worker, Climber Specialist. After about a year and a half, he decided to move back to Washington, strike out on his own, and found Solstice Tree Care. He was certified as an ISA arborist soon thereafter.

Brent Cronin
Climber

Brent joined STC in May 2019. After graduating from the University of Washington with a B.A. in English, he moved to Eugene, Oregon for a stint in wildland firefighting. There he spent two years working in a winery as both cellar hand and bartender.
He enjoys the physicality of climbing trees and delights in the trust and camaraderie that develops between tree workers. Learning knots, wood properties, basic engine mechanics, and how to safely and efficiently maneuver about trees exemplify some of the job’s exciting challenges that engage both his body and mind.
He is grateful to call Lopez Island home. You might find him riding his red Honda motorcycle around the San Juans, jogging in the woods, or watching a carefully curated film with his cat.
